Mixpo, the online video advertising startup backed by Madrona Venture Group, Yaletown Venture Partners and others, has named former Microsoft executive Bill Shaughnessy to its board.
Shaughnessy spent 15 years at Microsoft, most recently serving as global vice president of sales, marketing and services in the Advertiser and Publisher Solutions Group. He also worked as general manager of Microsoft's Digital Advertising Solutions Business Group.
“Rich video experiences will play an increasingly critical role for marketers, publishers and agencies as it moves to the forefront of effective online advertising at the local level,” said Shaughnessy in a statement. “Mixpo is extremely well positioned to be the market leader in this emerging sector."
Other board members at the Seattle company include Madrona's Matt McIlwain; Razorfish chief strategy officer Jeff Lanctot; and GrowthWorks Capital's Jim Charlton.
Founded in 2005, Mixpo says that its online video ads drive better click throughs and performance than other advertising technologies. It has raised $10.5 million to date.
