Kevin Foreman's last startup company, Bevy, didn't take off as planned. But the former general manager of the mobile business unit at RealNetworks is now pushing forward with a new secretive startup called Point Inside.
In an email interview, Foreman wouldn't say much, but the tagline on the startup's Web site cryptically says: "Mapping the Inside World." Based on a short description on the site, it appears that Point Inside is trying to help people locate nearby stores, restaurants and connecting gates at airports.
Foreman did confirm that the company -- whose other co-founders include Josh Marti, Brian Wilson and Jon Croy -- is in the process of raising a $500,000 angel round of financing. According to a filing with the SEC, Point Inside has already raised about $202,000.
Prior to co-founding Point Inside, Foreman worked as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Madrona Venture Group where they came up with the idea for Bevy. An online shopping service for Facebook users, Bevy was designed to help women find outfits to wear by creating a virtual closet of clothes.
It raised more than $1 million from Madrona and Trilogy Equity Partners, but petered out when it failed to get traction.
Stay tuned for more details on where Foreman -- who is serving as CEO of Point Inside -- takes the new startup. But based on the team and Foreman's past experience, it appears as if it is operating in the mobile arena.
