Open source startup Reductive lands $2M from True Ventures

Reductive Labs -- an open source startup that helps IT professionals automate network administration -- has landed $2 million venture round led by True Ventures, reports VentureBeat. Customers using the company's Puppet technology include Google, Twitter, Digg, Oracle and The New York Stock Exchange.

Xconomy notes that the company --  led by former Reed College roommates Luke Kanies and Andrew Shafer -- is consolidating operations in the open source hotbed of Portland.

ReadWriteWeb says that Reductive Labs is designed to help system administrators "monitor multiple machines across multiple operating systems and ensure that the lifeblood of major companies continues to pump."

Meanwhile, VentureBeat summarizes it in even simpler terms. They write that "Puppet lets companies cut the sizes of their IT staffs."
